Over one thousand Royal British Legion branches were represented in the procession to the Menin Gate on Wednesday the 8 August in Ypres, in memory of pilgrims who had processed ninety years before them this carefully reconstructed city, which has the iconic Flanders Fields Museum at its heart, became the back drop for something particularly special although the memory of total destruction in the past, is ever present in people’s minds.
