The latest news on the release of ‘SHAMROCK SPITFIRE’ which has scenes filmed in Hanbury’s Vernon chapel, north aisle and chance and also at ’The Firs’ near Dodderhill Common and Avoncroft Museum, is that it eventually attracted more than fifty awards in the pre-release film world. This true story will have you on the edge of your seat!

Following the Battle of Britain, Irish born World War 2 fighter pilot Brendan Funicane, rose to command 452 Australian Squadron, which under his leadership became the stuff of legend, thus attracting the attention of prime minister Winston Churchill who really wanted a whole Shamrock Squadron. Paddy’s team eventually painted ‘a shamrock’ design close to his cockpit.

The film was released on 12 March on Apple TV and other platforms and was made available on DVD from 17 March, St Patrick’s Day! The film will be shown on the big screen at Artrix (Bromsgrove) on 3 and 4 April where viewers will be able to meet the production team which includes local resident John Dawson and the talented Higgins twin brothers.
