WORLD WAR TWO

Huge thanks to our archivist Nicky Ellis for researching Second World War soldiers. Please let us know of any information about your friends and family who served in Hanbury or elsewhere; local knowledge, anecdotes and photographs will add to our understanding of these years.

BURMAN STAR COMMEMORATION IN BROMSGROVE

News has come from Rob Ralphs, regarding this annual commemoration. This year and next have added significance for the anniversaries of The Battle of the Admin Box, Kohima and the end of the Second World War. Many local men served in the Far East including the Anti Aircraft Gunners who were stationed at Hanbury Hall after coming from Dunkirk. Jimmy Nicklin from Stoke Prior was decorated with the Military Medal for rescuing Matador lorries, with vital supplies, while under fir in March 1944. Are there any local anecdotes about these?
