REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY
Sunday 13 November – 9.25 for 9.30 am
ROYAL BRITISH LEGION CEREMONY AT THE VILLAGE WAR MEMORIAL (20 minutes)
Please come along to hear the names of our village men who gave their lives for our freedom, in the two world wars. This is a moving ceremony during which the Royal British Legion branch ‘standard’ will be lowered by Gary, two-minute’s silence observed and ‘Last Post’ and ‘reveille’ sounded. Wreaths will be laid on behalf of the local branch (Stoke Works and Hanbury) but if any other organisations or individuals would like to do so, please speak to David or Alan when you arrive on the day to check the running order.
and 10.30 am SERVICE IN CHURCH (45 minutes)
Led by The Revd. David Morris & John Spencer. As far as the church services are concerned, ‘Stoke Works and Hanbury RBL’ attend one each year on a rotation basis which includes Stoke Prior, Hanbury, Wychbold and Upton Warren. This year sees the legion attending at Stoke Prior and next year (2023) at Hanbury.
AN INVITATION
Please come along to one of these events both to remember and to show your support for the work of the SW&H RBL. The branch organises the selling of poppies in this area and cares for local ex-servicemen and women and their families. To learn more about our Hanbury soldiers, where they lived, how they earned a living and their ‘theatres of war’ visit the permanent display at Hanbury church war memorial. Self-service hot drinks are available in the café daily.
